Course Title: Introduction to Computers and eCommerce with WooCommerce
Audience: Adults aged 18 – 50 + with no prior computer experience
Goal: By the end of the course, students should be able to use a computer, navigate the internet, and manage an eCommerce store using WooCommerce.
1: Introduction to Computers
Class 1: Understanding the Basics
After this class, students will be familiar with the basic components of a computer and will know how to turn it on and off. They’ll understand the function of a keyboard and a mouse, and will be able to perform simple tasks like opening applications.
- Introduction to the computer – What is a computer? Components of a computer.
- Turning on/off the computer, navigating the desktop.
- Introduction to the keyboard and mouse – functions of different keys, how to click, double-click, and right-click.
- Basic applications: Text editor, calculator.
Class 2: Exploring the Operating System
By the end of this class, students will be able to navigate through their computer’s operating system. They will know how to create, save, and open files and how to adjust basic settings.
- Navigating the operating system – files and folders, taskbar, start menu.

- Customizing settings – display settings, sound settings.
- Introduction to software installation/uninstallation.
2: Introduction to the Internet
Class 3: Getting Online
After this class, students will understand the concept of the internet and web browsers. They’ll know how to install and open a web browser and how to navigate websites.

- Navigating websites – using links, scrolling, navigating back and forth.
Class 4: Searching the Internet
By the end of this class, students will be comfortable using search engines to find information. They’ll understand search results and will know basic internet safety rules to protect themselves online.

- Introduction to internet safety – avoiding scams, creating strong passwords.
3: Email and Basic Internet Communication
Class 5: Email Basics
After this class, students will know what an email is, how to create an email account, and how to send, receive, reply to, and forward emails.

- Sending, receiving, replying to, and forwarding emails.
Class 6: Other Forms of Online Communication
By the end of this class, students will have a basic understanding of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. They’ll know how to sign up for and use these platforms, and they’ll understand basic internet etiquette and safety.

- Signing up for and using social media accounts.

4: Introduction to WooCommerce
Class 7: Exploring WooCommerce
After this class, students will understand what WooCommerce is. They’ll know how to sign up for WordPress and install the WooCommerce plugin.
- What is WooCommerce?
- Introduction to WordPress – signing up, basic navigation.
- Installing WooCommerce plugin on WordPress.
Class 8: Setting Up Your Store
By the end of this class, students will know how to set up their store on WooCommerce, including adding and managing product categories and understanding product attributes.
- WooCommerce settings – Store details, payment, shipping, email settings.
- Adding and managing product categories.
- Introduction to product attributes.
5: Managing Products on WooCommerce
Class 9: Adding Products
After this class, students will know how to add a product to their WooCommerce store, including adding a title, description, images, and product data.
- Adding a product – title, description, images.
- Setting product data – regular/sale price, inventory, shipping.
- Previewing and publishing a product.
Class 10: Editing and Removing Products
By the end of this class, students will know how to edit and delete products from their WooCommerce store. They’ll also understand how to manage product reviews.
- Editing an existing product – changing details, adding variations.
- Deleting a product.
- Managing product reviews.
6: Advanced WooCommerce Features
Class 11: Managing Orders and Customers
After this class, students will understand how to manage orders and customer details on their WooCommerce store. They’ll know how to process refunds.

Class 12: Reporting and Marketing
By the end of this class, students will know how to read WooCommerce reports to understand their store’s performance. They’ll also understand basic marketing techniques, like creating coupons and sales. They’ll have a chance to ask questions and review everything they’ve learned throughout the course.
